Who Cares if Carers don't?
Who are Carers in Hertfordshire?
We are a small independent charity supporting all unpaid carers living in Hertfordshire. We have offices in Hertford, Hemel Hempstead and Hitchin.
What is a carer?
You are a carer if you provide support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without your help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, substance misuse or disability.
Who cares?
Anyone can become a carer. Lots of people who are carers do not instantly recognise themselves as such; they often see the support they provide to a loved one as their duty, simply part of their daily routine. Others may be reticent about identifying themselves as a carer for fear of interference by outside agencies.
If you are unsure whether you are a carer, get in touch with us - see details below.
What difference can we make?
We are currently supporting carers across the county to access information and support that can make a real difference.
We provide:
- learning and development opportunities for carers to develop their skills,
- opportunities for carers to have their say on issues affecting them,
- access to funding to give carers a break from their caring role and
- chances to meet other people in similar situations.
